He said he had looked on the internet to know what happens to us after we die. My Sunday School answer was that we either went to heaven or to hell. But he didn't seem satisfied. And as the words automatically came out of my mouth, I considered my, in some ways shallow, response. What is a soul? And what exactly transpires the moment breath leaves the body? Where is heaven, where is hell?
But this verse ran through my mind:
"So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord."
I don't quite know all the answers, but this simple promise is enough for me, right now.
